ESL Pro League Season 7 North America ,

This match up is a match up quite like the others, but in terms of overall skill and competing teams, the two teams playing today are not going to be ones that really dominate the North American Pro League. Today we are watching these games as more of a learning experience than anything but also to educate my readers on an interesting dynamic, that of which I don't believe I have mentioned on this tip writing blog before. I'll explain down in my final thoughts but today we will be looking at a North American ESL Pro League Season 7 match between Complexity Gaming and Luminosity.

Complexity Gaming :

Complexity had a rough time yesterday playing Splyce, an otherwise not well known or well playing North American Squad. With playing Splyce they lost both games, one on Mirage and the other in overtime on Inferno. I feel as though Complexity has a good line up, they just lack decision making and overall team coordination. Complexity has shown that they can compete and have the leadership in FNS to do so, but the lack of overall experience and time played together as a team, has really cost Complexity a lot of key rounds and because of this, has lost them many games.

Complexity's maps are as followed ; Train is 2-3, Mirage is 2-2, Cobblestone is 4-0, Inferno is 1-2, Cache is 0-1, and both Nuke and Overpass have not been played in recent form.

Luminosity :

Luminosity actually surprised me yesterday, even after losing to SK on Cobblestone as I predicted, they did actually bounce back to take the second map of the day; Cache, away from the Brazilian giants. Luminosity have potential to be a great team, they right now struggle with more tier two and higher teams that can basically out gun them. Nothing really to do with strats, just straight skill. I feel for Luminosity because watching them play, they do have some coordination and aren't just running around willy nilly, they can be structured and when the executions work, you get results like they did on Cache where they beat SK 16-8.

Luminosity's maps are as followed ; Train is 1-6, Cache is 5-2, Cobblestone is 1-3, Mirage is 0-1, Nuke is 0-1, and both Overpass and Inferno have not been played by this squad in recent form.

Map Pick/Ban :

This is a best of one series and Cobblestone is the map of predetermined choice. Fortunately for both of these teams, they have both had some experience on this map in recent form, seeing as Overpass, Nuke, and Inferno have been absent from each of these teams recent games. So both teams luck out on getting a map they are familiar with. Complexity has a record of 4-0 on this map, while Luminosity have a record of 1-3. Quite a difference.

Final Thoughts:

I mentioned above in my opening statement an interesting dynamic that will change how I look at this match, well here it is. Even though Complexity has a clear advantage going into this match up, them winning Cobblestone the last four times they've played and Luminosity only winning one of their last four times, the level of competition from both of these teams is vastly different. Complexity have their four wins against four very low tier North American teams. While Luminosity, though they lost their games, they put up a big fight against tier one teams like Fnatic and SK Gaming. Though they might have not won many games, their competition is more fierce and this game against a lower tier team will prove this. Medium on Luminosity.
