Chengdu Hunters vs Dallas Fuel

The fact that Dallas reached Top 4 is nothing short of a small miracle. In fact, the odds of it happening were so darn remote that it seemed like science fiction. Now sure, Dallas *did* show some signs of promise at the very start of 2021 in their opening match against Houston (the Texan 'el clasico') but no one in their right minds could've predicted *this*. The reason why is rather simple: it makes no sense whatsoever.

And the fashion in which they've gotten to this point was equally as staggering. They've 3-0'd both Houston and San Francisco Shock to get to this point — the latter of whom are the two-time Overwatch League champions. How Dallas managed to pull it off is anyone's guess. They were, of course, the better team on the day, but their success still feels somewhat surreal, as if they attained it through sheer wizardry and magic.

Opposite them stand the Chengdu Hunters, a team no one gave much thought to coming into 2021, and yet they've subverted everyone's expectations in quite a historic manner and have looked downright incredible in the process as well. They are, by an large, one of the best teams in the APAC region and, by proxy, the Overwatch League. Their wins haven't been competitive either — when Chengdu get on the same page and execute to the best of their ability they're like a force of nature. Incredible stuff, really.

In the end, though, we'll side with Chengdu on this one, although it's fair to say that it could really go either way. In fact, this is as far from a 'safe bet' as it gets. Neither team was supposed to be here, in all fairness, so what'll happen going forward and how things will ultimately resolve is anyone's guess. That said, Chengdu were a bit more consistent and their highs were a bit more impressive as well, so we'll give them our benefit of the doubt on this one.
