CS Summit 3

01 November, 2018 - 04 November, 2018 Los Angeles, United States

Beyond The Summit is returning to Counter-Strike for another iteration of their cs_summit event.

Preview

This tournament is a pretty nice intermission between the more heavy hitting events around this time of year.

That in no way means it is not going to be competitive as hell. There is noe clear cut favorite that everyone "knows" will win the entire thing. And is not this one of the key factors for a successful cs:go tournament?

Let jump right into the predictions:

1. NRG will win the entire tournament, they have been given a draw from the heavens above. And proved in China that they are able to keep their nerves in check and win high stake events.

2. The winner of the match between BIG and G2 will get second place

3. Optic is close but will not get more than third place at this event

4. Complexity will continue to disappoint everyone after their miraculous 3-0 advancement at the London majors

Team breakdown - The favorites

The lower bracket format makes it a bit more difficult when looking at the bracket, but a second chance always favors the best team. NRG is the best team at this tournament, and has the easiest way to the upper bracket final. The four closest challengers are all in the lower part of the bracket. Giving them an opportunity of a lifetime (well maybe not quite so dramatic, but it is very nice for them).

They have really stepped it up this year and don't look to slow down at all.

The second highest ranked team in the tournament, they surprised everyone with an insane showing at ESL One: Cologne. And have to some extent been able to show that it was not an entire fluke. But this is exactly the kind of tournament where they have to step it up and show that they belong in the tier1 class of teams. Even if they lose the opening match to G2 they should make it far in the tournament.

They look very competent in this ESL season, and have probably secured a final spot already.

Frances biggest hope for success for quite some time, but have been given a run for their money by the newly formed LDLC. They are still performing way to unstable to be a LAN champion. But their top-level is insanely high and if they get the momentum rolling they just might make it the whole way to the grand final.

Team breakdown -  the second best

Complexity

Very disappointing StarSeries losing 0-3 in the group stages. Have recently been playing very well online and trying to show everyone that they are not broken. But I don't have high hopes for them this time around.

Opitc

A team I expected to step up to the next level for quite some time now. But have disappointed me enough times that I don't know that it will happen anytime soon. They look more towards a downward trend than anything else. They did Ok at StarSersies, but are failing against any higher level opponents. (Prove me wrong guys!)

Tournament Format

The tournament will be played out in a double-elimination bracket with best-of-three matches except for the grand final that will be a best-of-five series.
